"What makes shiatsu distinctive for me is the quality of touch. The touch in shiatsu is all the more powerful for its subtlety; because it is so unforced and the practitioner directs their energy in the most natural way possible for them, the flow is unimpeded, easily moving where it needs to go. As someone who is anxious and suffers with chronic fatigue and insomnia, shiatsu puts me in a state of relaxation that not much else can, and over time has helped me to defrost from a chronic state of "freeze". There is a trust fostered through the quality of touch in shiatsu that I think is very special."
Kate Kinoshita, shiatsu student
Throughout June we are posting contributions we have received from people who wanted to tell us one thing they love about shiatsu.
All contributors have given us permission to share their words, with the names or initials given.
